NB! From 1 September 2025 – new entry rules in Latvia. Starting 1 September 2025, third-country nationals who do not hold a Latvian visa or residence permit must submit information online at eta.gov.lv before entering Latvia.
This rule regulates all travel to Latvia - both intra-Schengen flights, and those arriving from third countries.
Who must register?
- Third-country nationals without a Latvian visa or residence permit.
- Also those transiting through Latvia.
Who is exempt from registration?
- Citizens of the EU, EEA, Switzerland, NATO, OECD, and Brazil.
- Persons holding a Latvian visa or residence permit.
- Diplomats, participants of official visits, and non-citizens of Estonia.
Where to register?
- Online at eta.gov.lv, at least 48 hours before arrival.

- Purpose of travel, itinerary, duration of stay, and contact information
